Five Thoughts: Pius XI Catholic (WI) at Slinger (WI)

1) Convincing road win for Pius XI. Their offense flowed seamlessly, both in the half-court and transition games. There was a young core of Pius talent leading the way in the win: 2025s Georgia Acompanado, Addison Miranda and Tess Wiczek and 2026 Charlotte Wentworth. As this team continues to gel and grow together they could be dangerous, not just in the future, but in the playoffs this season, they will be a tough out.

2) Addison Miranda (5'8" 2025 Guard) continues to be a lethal threat for Pius XI from the arc. She can hit from anywhere across the perimeter, and is capable of catching fire and being able to carry an offense for stretches of the game. College talent, who if she continues to advance her ability to attack the paint when defenses overplay, could see some Division I opportunities with another strong AAU season shooting the ball against top talent.

3) The question isn't whether Georgia Acompanado (5'7" 2025 Guard) of Pius can play at the college level, she definitely can, and will be a scholarship player. The only question that remains is what level will she end up at. She knows how to run a team, and has a natural instinct from the point of knowing when to attack for herself and when to create. She's a steady scorer, who never has to press the issue for her own looks. I really think highly of this young talent. She can shoot the ball, hit the paint off the bounce and facilitate to open shooters on the wings. Very good court vision, and loves to kick ahead in transition.

4) The 3rd standout 2025 for Pius XI tonight was Tess Wiczek (5'7" 2025 Guard). I have an appreciation for players that can score from the arc and off the bounce at an equitable level, as well as play in the open court and half court offenses, and Wiczek did that masterfully tonight. Showed her range with three off the left lane extended and left wing, flourished in transition, converted off the bounce with a quality & 1 and even showed off a little floater finish. Another Pius scholarship talent, and as someone who watches a lot of Division II Northern Sun teams closely, she seems like a player that would be a natural fit and early contributor there if that was the path she chose.

5) Tough night overall for Slinger, but it may have been a breakout game for Kate Wolf (5'6" 2024 Guard). She more than doubled her season scoring average against a strong opponent and showed finishing skills from multiple levels. Wolf sprayed 3s from both wings and took on contact inside effectively, including converting a tough and 1 finish. Haven't seen a lot of Wolf, but if there's a college trying to sneak in late on a player she may be worth getting a look at. More of a natural 2 Guard, really shot some grit and leadership tonight.
