This edition of Five Questions & Quick Hitters is with Anna Pauly, a 2023 out of Blooming Prairie High School (MN) and Minnesota Rise club hoops who recently verballed to play at Dakota State. Thanks for your time Anna!

1. Congratulations on your recent commitment to Dakota State! What were some of the deciding factors in choosing to join the Trojans and Coach Moe?

I have always wanted to play college basketball. When I visited Dakota State and met Coach Moe, it seemed like a good fit. Everyone was super welcoming, and it felt like I would be cared about. Meeting Coach Moe was the best feeling. He gave a super good speech to my parents and I. We loved him a lot. The college also has the degree I want to go into (exercise science).

2. You are heading into your Senior season with the Awesome Blossoms of Blooming Prairie. What are your team expectations, and what are some of the things you individually would like to accomplish in your final season in 2022-23?

Our team expectations are to always play our best. We are always known for our defense. We run a 3-2 or 2-3 zone and normally have at least 2, 6-foot players in. My goals for myself for the season are to be a good leader and to lead my team into success. I also want to be a flexible player and be comfortable with multiple positions.

3. Your club program was Minnesota Rise. They are a program on the way up in Minnesota, what were some of the things you enjoyed most in your time with Rise, and what were some of the areas of your game you feel you showed improvement in during the most recent 2022 season?

I enjoyed everything about MN Rise. They cared about me as a player and person. My coach was awesome. I liked the offense we ran because it was a motion offense. With the offense we ran and how the other team guarded us, it helped me improve my game a lot. I got more comfortable with the ball.

4. What are some of your interests outside of basketball, what activities keep you busy when you're away from the court?

In my free time when I’m not on the court, I like to hang out with friends, go to my cabin, and shop.

5. In a smaller community, the athletes are often role models for the younger generations. What advice would you give to young athletes at Blooming Prairie as the begin their sports careers, especially those that hope to play beyond High School?

Advice I give to younger kids is always put in your best effort, move on from your mistakes, and set goals for you to achieve.
