This edition of Five Questions & Quick Hitters is with DeLanee Seay, a 2024 out of Prairie High School (IA) who plays club hoops with Lady Martin Brothers. Thanks for your time DeLanee!

1. You play club basketball with Lady Martin Brothers. What were some of you favorite highlights from this past season, and what are you looking forward to in 2023?

MY PERSONAL FAVORITE HIGHLIGHTS, I THINK I GREW AS A PLAYER AND TEAMMATE IN EACH TOURNAMENT. EACH GAME WAS DIFFERENT COMPETITION AND THAT PUSHED ME TO TRY NEW THINGS. I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO 2023, GOING TO NEW PLACES, EXPERIENCING DIFFERENT COMPETITION AND BEING A MORE CONFIDENT PLAYER ON OFFENSE SO I CAN SHOW OTHER TEAMS/SCOUTS/COACHES/MY TEAM AND COACHES I’M NOT ONLY A THREAT ON DEFENSE I’M COMING AFTER IT ON OFFENSE!!

2. Recently you took part in an HBCU Showcase. What were some of the things you learned while at the Showcase, and what were some of your personal favorite memories?

I LEARNED TO STAY PATIENT AND CONTROL MYSELF. MY FAVORITE MEMORY WAS MY TEAM WINNING THE CHAMPIONSHIP! WE ALL GOT SUPER HYPE!!

3. Last season you started and were one of the leaders at Des Moines North, this year you'll be at Prairie. What are some of your personal and team goals for the 2022-23 season?

I PLAYED FOR FORT MADISON MY FRESHMAN YEAR. MID SEASON I HAD KNEE INJURY. TRANSFERRED TO PRAIRIE ANTICPATED TO START VARSITY WHEN HEALED AND INJURY LASTED LONGER THAN ANTICIPATED. THAT DIDN’T STOP ME THOUGH I STAYED WORKING WITH MY THERAPIST AND STAYED IN THE GYM WORKING AROUND MY INJURY REHABBING MYSELF! MY PERSONAL GOALS FOR MY COME BACK IN JUNIOR YEAR AT PRAIRIE IS TO GET ALL CONFERENCE AND RECEIVE MY FIRST OF MANY OFFERS! TEAM GOALS IS TO HAVE GREAT CHEMISTRY ON THE COURT AND MAKE IT TO STATE!!

4. Now that you're into your Junior year, what are some of the things you're looking for in a school and basketball program and when are you hoping to make your college choice?

I AM LOOKING FOR A PROGRAM THAT CARES ABOUT PERSONAL GROWTH AS A PLAYER AND AN INDIVIDUAL. I COULD GO TO ANY SCHOOL I WANTED TO BASED ON ACADEMICS BUT MY PASSION IS BASKETBALL AND I WOULD LIKE TO FIND A PROGRAM/COLLEGE WHO VALUES MY PASSION ON AND OFF THE COURT!

5. If you take a look at your own basketball skill set, what are 3 or 4 of your biggest strengths, and what area are you currently working on to turn it into another strength in your game?

DRIVING, DEFENSE, AGGRESSIVENESS, KNOWLEDGE OF THE COURT

RIGHT NOW I AM WORKING ON BECOMING AS AGGRESSIVE ON OFFENSE AS I AM ON DEFENSE.
