This edition of Five Questions & Quick Hitters is with Belle Iten, a 2023 from Eagan High School and Minnesota Impact. Belle recently committed to Wheaton College. Thanks for your time Belle!

1. You just committed to Wheaton College. Congratulations on your college choice! What were some of the main factors that led to your decision to play for Coach Madsen and the Thunder?

Wheaton was always at the top of my college list due to their well regarded academics and amazing spiritual life, and the beautiful campus. When I visited last spring and again this fall, the team was so welcoming and supportive. I love every aspect of the atmosphere at Wheaton and I’m so excited to play for the Thunder!

2. You were very patient in your recruiting, waiting until the beginning of your Senior season. Who were some of the people that helped guide you through the process and what was the advice that they gave you?

My recruiting process began early last spring as my Junior AAU season started. All the great schools I was talking to definitely made the decision hard, but my parents were extremely supportive and helped me consider the pros and cons of each school. I wanted to make sure to take my time and choose a college that would fit me academically and basketball wise.

3. You played with a newer club program in Minnesota Impact, which allowed you more opportunities to show your individual talents more often at times while the program grows. What were some of your favorite memories and events you played in this past club season?

I was invited to play with MN Impact by coach Jon Avery during my 9th grade AAU season. Some of my favorite memories were winning the AAU State Championship for the DII bracket that year. I also had a blast playing with several teammates who also go to schools within the South Suburban Conference and playing against them during winter season.

4. Last season Eagan had an impressive 18 win year. Although there will be some lineup changes, as one of the top returning players, what have you set as some of your individual and team goals for this upcoming season?

This year will be a big change for sure, especially without some of our key players Lily Fandre and Jocelyn Plonski. Hopefully we can use our smallness and quickness to our advantage and push the ball more. I’m looking forward to cultivating a new culture for Eagan Girls Basketball. As a player, I hope to continue to develop my outside game and use my strength to my advantage in the paint.

5. When you're not on the basketball court, what are some of your favorite activities that allow you to maintain balance in your life?

When I’m not playing basketball, I’m usually volunteering in my community, spending time with friends, or reading a good book.
