This edition of Five Questions & Quick Hitters is with one of the best all-around athletes in the region, 2024 Eliana Sheplee of Rice Lake High School (WI) and Team Wisconsin club hoops. Thanks for your time Eliana!

1. You have had a huge couple of months picking up many offers. First, congratulations on all the opportunities, and secondly, what are you looking for in a school & basketball program and do you have any kind of timeline for when you'd like to make your decision?

I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to play basketball at the college level and have met some amazing people along the way.  There are a lot of things to consider when making the decision but finding the right fit has always been most important to me.  The coaching staff, players, and style of play are some of the top things I have been considering.

2. With all your success in three sports, have you given any thought to whether or not you would try to be a multi-sport athlete at the college level?

Playing multiple sports at the next level would be very challenging but it is something that I am considering and have been fortunate enough to have some schools allow me to do so.

3. Besides basketball, you play volleyball at both the High School & club levels AND you're a State Champion in the 200 & 400 in track. My question is, as such a diverse and well-rounded athlete, what do you see as the biggest benefits of being a 3-sport athlete?

There can be a lot of benefits from being a 3 sport athlete.  On the physical side it helps you develop as an athlete in different ways and on the mental side it can challenge you to push yourself outside what you are comfortable with.  At the end of the day one of the biggest benefits for me is that I have been able to play and compete in 3 different sports that I love. I love the change of seasons and constant fresh starts.

4. Last season you led Rice Lake in scoring at over 16 PPG and the team picked up 22 wins. As you head into your Junior season on the court, what are some of your individual and team goals for 2022-23?

We had a good team last year and just want to do my part to build on what we accomplished and make a run in the postseason again.  From an individual standpoint I will need to continue to develop my skills and get better as a basketball player so I can be ready for what our coaches ask me to do.

5. Team Wisconsin has a great track record of success on the club basketball scene. What are some of the things you'd like to try to accomplish with your teammates in your final run on the club circuit next spring and summer?

I am looking forward to playing with Team Wisconsin again next summer as we have a great group of girls that are amazing players but even better humans!  I hope we are able to compete at a very high level as we get into tournaments and show people how good some of the area basketball is.
