This round of Five Questions is with Ava Zediker. Ava had a tremendous summer with All Iowa Attack 2024 EYBL, including an appearance at the WNBA Skills Competition! Also the leading scorer as a Freshman at one of Iowa's top High School programs Dowling Catholic. Thanks for your time Ava!

1) You competed on one of the elite teams in the country this year with All Iowa Attack 2024 EYBL. You ended the year a perfect 11-0 between Meltdown & Summer Finale. What are some of your favorite memories from this past club season?

One of my favorite memories was making it to the championship game at the Boo Williams tournament in Virginia this past spring, going to Chicago to play at Nike Nationals and hanging out in hotel lobbies playing UNO with the team.

2) During the WNBA All-Star weekend in Chicago, you had the opportunity to pair with Courtney Vandersloot during the Skills Competition, what was that experience like for you?

Competing in the WNBA Skills Competition alongside Courtney Vandersloot was a day I’ll never forget! The atmosphere was amazing and it was so cool being around some of the best players in the WNBA. It was fun to go against different EYBL and WNBA players.

3) You have had a tremendous amount of on-court success and that has led to several Division I offers. How will you know when you've found the right school for yourself, what will it look like?

It is really cool to see all of my hard work paying off. I still have three years of high school left so I’m excited to have time to visit and get to know different programs. The right school will feel like home, the staff and team will feel like family and the school will have a strong focus on academics.

4) You were part of an incredibly young lineup at Dowling Catholic last season, a traditional power program. What are some of the things you and your teammates hope to accomplish now that you've got your first year of varsity under your belt?

The key to success my freshmen year was because of the team chemistry and coaching staff. We had an amazing group of upperclassman that embraced having five freshman join the varsity squad. The team genuinely cared for each other and enjoyed spending time with each other on and off the court. That team chemistry will be a critical part of our success this year as we welcome the freshman class. We have an incredibly tough schedule ahead of us this season. Our goal is to win conference and punch our ticket to return to state at Wells Fargo Arena in February.

5) Dowling Catholic has a famous alumni in Caitlin Clark, who's now an All-American at Iowa. Has her presence as a Dowling Catholic alumni influenced you and your game and if so, in what ways?

Following Caitlin’s footsteps at Dowling Catholic are tough shoes to fill. She left an unbelievable imprint at Dowling and I hope to do the same over the next few years. Getting to watch her play at such a high level at Iowa so early in her college career and with tremendous success, has been inspiring and definitely motivates me to keep improving and to be a leader for my team.
