Game Summary

In a match-up of talented young 2026 lineups Wisconsin Elite 2026 Koeller fought their way past Wisconsin Impact 2026 Bankston by a final of 46-40.

A quick drive and score from Impact's Cardin Johnson got us underway. It was her 1st two points on her way to a team-high 12.

The first run of the game came early, and it was from Wisconsin Elite, an 8-0 rally to gather an 8-2 lead. A triple off the right wing started things from McKinley Becker. A pair of free throw and a left wing three from Mallory Hartwig capped the run with a 6 point edge.

The game would tighten up, and stay tight throughout from there. A free throw by Elliot Burkemper, who would also finish with 12, made it 8-3. A corner three from the left side from Abby Gutknecht cut it to 8-6 before Elite would get back on track.

Elite countered with a transition bucket from Chloe Lauth and a pair of free throws from Hartwig, making it 12-6 in what would be a game full of free throws.

Impact would counter with 5 points of their own to draw within 12-11 as Burkemper scored twice, first sealing a defender inside for a bucket, then connecting from the arc off the left wing.

Elite has the next run of the half, it was 8-0, and gave them a 20-11 advantage. A short jumper by Natalie Voigt started things, followed by scores from Gracie Clary (steal & score), Clary again on an interior drive to make it 18-11 and ended with two free throws, 1 each from Brooklyn Kaufman and Clary.

Impact fired right back, rattling off 7 straight and narrowing the gap to 20-18. It started with a free throw for Gutknecht, then Johnson went to work with back to back buckets, first off a curl cut, then a coast to coast finish. Two free throws by Taylor Pitta finalized the rally.

The teams would trade two points to end the half with Elite in front 22-20. Elite got a pair of freebies from Hartwig and Impact answered with a drive off the wing by Johnson.

A 15-3 run to open the 2nd half seemed like it would give Elite the run-away win, but there would still be suspense in this one. Impact opened the half with two free throws by Jenna Kahl to know things up before Elite sprung to life. A drive and 1 finish from Lauth got the momentum going. A dive to the bucket by Hartwig made it 27-22, a fast break score by Becker opened it to 29-22. and a basket cut for a score from Hartwig as well had Elite in front 31-22, before the run was temporarily slowed by an Impact free throw from Burkemper. The next two scores were back to Elite as Hartwig found room on a drive and Clary cashed in on the break for a 35-23 Elite cushion and the rally ended with 2 free throws from Becker and a 14 point Elite lead.

Although they would chip away at the lead, Impact would never draw closer than 5 the rest of the night. An in-bounds basket dive executed by Burkemper seemed to get Impact back on track. They would allow a baseline score to Elite's Clary, but answered with an offensive rebound for a hoop and a straight-away three by Burkemper to draw within 39-30.

An interior finish by Emma Belter of Elite continued to hold Impact at bay at 41-30. Impact chipped away again to within 41-34 on a top of the key down drive by Johnson and a baseline jumper from Danielle Becker (5'8" 2026, Monona Grove HS, WI), but again Elite found a way to fight them off with a quality left block finish from Voigt.

A long drive by Johnson and a Gutknecht free throw made it 43-37, but as always, Elite responded. A pair of free throws for Becker seemed to ice the game away. A three off the left wing by Kahl made it 45-40, but the final free throw from Kaufman placed the final at 46-40.

Prospect Notes

McKinley Becker, Wisconsin Elite 2026 Koeller

-Becker nearly walked away with a double-double in Elite's victory over Impact. She finished with 10 points and 8 rebounds. She showed she can hit from the arc when she converted a triple off the right wing. Rest of her scoring came out of the transition game, where she ran the sidelines effectively and 5 free throws converted. Part of a talented trio of Wisconsin Elite stand-outs from this game.

Elliot Burkemper, Wisconsin Impact 2026 Bankston

-Finished with a team-best 13 points and completed a double-double with a 10 rebound effort in close loss to Wisconsin Elite. Showed a pretty expansive scoring package for a young prospect. From the arc she cashed in twice, once from the left wing, the second from the top of the key. Was able to isolate a smaller defender inside for an interior score while drawing contact. Will be interesting to see her role as a Freshman on a fairly deep Whitefish Bay roster.

Gracie Clary, Wisconsin Elite 2026 Koeller

-Probably the most impressive overall prospect on the court in this game. Finished with 9 points and 10 rebounds. Mixed up her scoring package without looking for threes. Had a steal and score to get her game scoring, part of what was an impressive defensive effort both on the ball and on the glass. Had a quick inside drive for a bucket and also finished the break in transition. Has a long, lean build and has a bright future ahead of her.

Mallory Hartwig, Wisconsin Elite 2026 Koeller

-All over the board as a score for Impact, as she totaled a team-best 15 points in the win. Hit her only three off the left wing to show range. She scored twice off of convincing cuts, one a basket dive the other a cut for a bucket. Added a drive from the edge and really did a good job of taking contact and getting to the free throw line, where she connected 6 times. One of the better 2026 prospects on the weekend that I viewed.

Cardin Johnson, Wisconsin Impact 2026 Bankston

-Very productive game for the 5'5" Guard. Pumped in 12 points and more than rebounded her position, competing for 7 boards against a much bigger Elite lineup. Drove the ball to the lane for several scores, gathering nearly all her points on drive attacks. Drove it from the wing, the top down and from outside the arc for buckets. Also ran a beautiful curl cut for another basket. One of several excellent prospects from this battle.
