Game Summary

Wisconsin Impact 2023 Witt came out on fire, and never looked back in a 62-38 win against 1on1 2023 Silver, as they ended the game with an impressive 16 three pointers made in the victory.

Reagan Pahl set the tone early, as she scored the first 6 points of the game against 1on1's 2-3 zone with a pair of triples out of the left corner. A nice back-cut for a score cut the Impact lead to 6-2 as Jenna Tierney found her way to the rim for a score.

After that basket, Impact went on an 11-0 run and the game would never again be closer than 7 points. A third triple from the left corner by Pahl made it 12-2, a right wing triple from Mya Hartjes (her first of 5 in the game) made it 15-2 and a smooth mid-lane turn-around from Lexi Bugajski capped the run and left things at 17-2 Impact.

After a round of substitutions, 1on1 would rattle off their only significant run, a 7-0 rally to cut the lead to 17-9. It started with DI prospect Ayianna Johnson (6'3" 2023, Jefferson HS, WI) scoring off the left block, followed by a pair of long drives, the first resulting in a converted and 1 finish from Faith Robertson (5'7" 2023, Shorewood HS, WI) cutting the deficit to eight.

The 3-point derby from Impact (who scored 27 of their 29 1st half points from the arc) continued with Hartjes connecting off the right lane extended. Johnson went back to work, this time off the right block to make it 20-11. A three from City Figlinski (5'9" 2023, Appleton West HS, WI) extended the lead back to 23-11 before 1on1 would answer with the next five points.

A well-executed back-cut from 1on1s Sammi Glatczak was followed by a right lane extended trey from Marianna Golombowski  cut the deficit to 23-26.

The final 6 points of the half from Impact brought the lead back to 29-16 and would be their final points of the half. Annika Pluemer and Hartjes both connected off the left wing, giving Impact their 9th three of the half.

1on1 Milwaukee would scrape to within 7 again by the half as Johnson scored inside, Robertson cashed in an offensive board and Johnson again dropped one from the left block making it 29-22 at the intermission.

The first basket of the 2nd half, a right wing three from Impact's Jayden Nortier pushed the lead to 32-22 but was countered by a strong baseline driver from 1on1s Golombowski made it 32-24. The next Impact three, off the right wing by Hartjes made it 35-24 and the lead would never be in single-digits again. A pair of rare two-pointers from Impact, a baseline drive by Pahl and an elbow jumper by Pluemer pushed the score to 39-24.

The teams would then go quite a while trading baskets. 1on1 started with a finish off the left block from Glatczak, but was answered by a short interior drive from Pahl and a right lane extended three to Hartjes stretched it to 44-26.

A three from 1on1s Olivia Close, one of just two in the game for 1on1 made it 44-29. The lead, however, would balloon back to 19 for Impact on a free throw from Figlinski and a left wing bomb from Pahl, making it 48-29 before a baseline drive by 1on1s Golombowski got them as close as they'd get again, down 48-31.

The lead mushroomed to 20, at 51-31 on a three from the left edge by Pluemer. A free throw for 1on1 was the only break they'd get during what was about to be a 7-1 run. Another three from Pluemer and a free throw from Morgan Adams (6'0" 2023, Kewauskum HS, WI) made it 55-32.

With the game well in hand, the teams would trade some late scores. A drive by 1on1s Robertson made it 55-34, before four free throws from Impact, 2 each by Pluemer and Adams extended the lead to 59-34. A pair of transition scores from Ava Westermann (5'6" 2023, Pewaukee HS, WI) for 1on1 gave them their final scores at 59-38. The final score of the game, fittingly, was a three from Impact's Pluemer to create the final of 62-38.

Prospect Notes

Mya Hartjes, Wisconsin Impact 2023 Witt

-Hartjes is a strong shooter from the arc, and showed that with 5-3s in the win over 1on1 Milwaukee. Averaged nearly 20 PPG during her Junior campaign at University School. Can splash her jumper from anywhere on the arc and has shown she can shoot it a quality percentage. Most likely a quality fit at the Division II level, but won't be surprised if a scholarship school adds her based on her scoring prowess. Handles the ball well enough to work as a Combo Guard at the collegiate level.

Ayianna Johnson, 1on1 Milwaukee 2023 Silver

-Johnson already has some Division I opportunities in hand, but with performances like she had during the Cheesehead Challenge, that number will likely increase. She's strong on either block and incredibly active on the offensive glass. Coming off a Junior season in which she averaged 18 PPG. Like her physical build and that she really knows how to control the low block on offense or defensively. Plays with energy and gets into the transition game from the front court. Excellent prospect.

Reagan Pahl, Wisconsin Impact 2023 Witt

-Pahl came out firing and Impact never looked back. Like that she was able to adjust as the zone closed out on her hard on the arc and she was able to create and score with drives from the baseline and the paint. Likely scholarship talent at the Division II or NAIA level. She can run the offense as a Point Guard but shows the range to be a top scorer also. Will likely be looked to as the leading scorer and leading distributor heading into her Senior season. Heady player who knows when to shoot and when to facilitate.

Annika Pluemer, Wisconsin Impact 2023 Witt

-Another likely scholarship player at the Division II or NAIA level. Pluemer led a strong Brookfield East team in scoring as a Junior at nearly 17 PPG. Can score at all levels. Very dangerous from the arc, and she cashed in three times off the left wing in this one. Has a nice shooting stroke on her mid-range and long-range shots. Willing to drive when the three is denied. Looked for gap lanes against the zone look and found success driving. On the perimeter relocated to find soft spots in the zone for clean looks. Good size from the Guard spot.

Faith Robertson, 1on1 Milwaukee 2023 Silver

-If you're looking for a sneaky good prospect to keep your eyes on who can put the ball on the deck and will rebound her position at a high level, make sure you view Robertson. She has a deceptively quick 1st step and angles her body well on drives and against contact. Very productive scorer at 18 PPG last season. She has a lanky build but she can attack in the half court or transition games off the wing. Had the chance to evaluate her twice and both games she was consistent as a scorer and rebounding from the Guard spot.
